At the time of writing an image costs 50 credits and a video costs from 404 credits (4 seconds, 480p) to 3,405 credits (15 seconds, 720p); the exact cost is shown on the Generate button before you spend anything. Credits and pricing are managed on clipwave.io, not in the plugin.<\/p>\n\nThe plugin itself is free software (GPLv2 or later) and every feature in it works with any Clipwave account that has credits.<\/p>\n\n
How it works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n- A site administrator pastes the API key under Settings > Clipwave. The key is stored in your WordPress database, shown masked, and can be removed at any time.<\/li>\n
- Any user who can upload files (Authors and above by default) opens Media > Clipwave or the editor box, describes the subject, chooses style, mood and format, and presses Generate.<\/li>\n
- Your server sends the brief to the Clipwave API, then checks the job every few seconds until it is complete.<\/li>\n
- The result is previewed. \"Add to Media Library\" downloads the file to your server and creates a regular attachment; for a post, \"Set as featured image\" does exactly that. Videos are imported as MP4 attachments when your site allows that file type; otherwise a download link is offered.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n
Every result is also kept in your Clipwave dashboard, so nothing is lost if you close the page while a video is still rendering.<\/p>\n\n
External services<\/h3>\n\n
This plugin is a client for the Clipwave API, a paid third-party service operated by Clipwave (https:\/\/clipwave.io). It is required for the plugin to do anything: without a Clipwave account, credits and an API key, no image or video can be generated.<\/p>\n\n
Endpoint<\/strong>: https:\/\/clipwave.io\/api\/v1<\/code> (requests are made from your web server with the WordPress HTTP API, never from the visitor's browser). Generated files are downloaded from https:\/\/clipwave.io<\/code> (or from the storage Clipwave uses for a freshly finished job) when you press \"Add to Media Library\".<\/p>\n\nWhat is sent, and when<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n- When an administrator presses \"Verify key\" in Settings > Clipwave: the API key (as an Authorization header). Nothing else.<\/li>\n
- When a user presses \"Generate\": the API key, the prompt composed from the brief (subject, style, mood, format), and the generation settings (aspect ratio, number of images, duration, resolution, audio on\/off).<\/li>\n
- While a generation is running: the API key and the job id, every few seconds, until the job completes or fails.<\/li>\n
- When a user presses \"Add to Media Library\": the API key and the job id, then a download of the generated file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
No data about your site, its URL, its users, its content or its visitors is sent. Nothing is sent until an API key has been saved and a user explicitly performs one of the actions above. The plugin contains no analytics, no tracking and loads no external scripts, styles or images in wp-admin.<\/p>\n\n

Why did a video come back as a link instead of an attachment?<\/h3><\/dt>\nYour site refused the MP4 file (for example because uploads of that type are disabled). The plugin then offers a download link from Clipwave so you can still save the file.<\/p><\/dd>\n
Who can generate?<\/h3><\/dt>\nUsers with the upload_files<\/code> capability (Authors, Editors and Administrators by default). Only administrators (manage_options<\/code>) can see or change the API key.<\/p><\/dd>\nWhich data is sent to Clipwave?<\/h3><\/dt>\nOnly what is needed to generate: the API key, the prompt built from your brief, the generation settings and the job id.
